NaNoWriMo 2009 ... and so it begins.

My thoughts exactly, my beloved mother.

16 days until my birthday. My social calendar is abnormally active. Officially, it's NaNoWriMo. I am hiding under my sheets in sheer terror as we speak.

To be honest I had been inclined to participate since my victory last year. Mid-2009 I had gotten some great music for inspiration, even greater pictures and a small character synopsis. I was ready. I was powered up.

Then October 31st crawled by.

I panicked. I didn't feel ready.

I still don't. Which is why my word count is currently 0. I am hoping that when the sun is out, that number changes.

So who is embarking on this psychotic journey with me? Raise your hands.

Weeks Gone By

My sister took the camera with her on her Argentina/Peru trip. I'm having severe camera withdrawal symptoms. If I didn't have that possible Disney trip looming, I would waste all my savings on buying one.

No camera, no frequent blog posts. Life's sad that way.

The Jonas Brothers' concert is a few days away. I am a little excited. Teenager Central (this does not include me) is going beserk trying to figure out what hotel they're staying at, what airport they're going to land and where are they eating/living/breathing. Personally, I've never been a fan of celebrity stalking. Guess I am too cowardly and the thought of coming close to them and asking for an autograph or picture embarrasses me to no end. I do want to be courageous when the right time comes. Some day. Over the rainbow.

Oy Geocities...

The fact that Geocities is closing at the end of this month stresses me greatly. I have more than one website there and I have no idea where to move them. Some have a more nostalgic nature while others... do not.

Maybe Webs is a good alternative?

Anyone else going through this? Let us all commiserate as we become part the Geocities Boo-Hoo Crew.

Add to the fact that I have decided to open a website about hamster care (Hamster 101) because I am so worried about the lack of proper care the hamsters in this country are getting. I dived into the opportunity of creating a source of information for the owners. Mom said I should make little fliers so I could distribute them in Pet Stores across the city. That way when they have any question or concern, they can just check it out. I don't know if this is even a good idea at this point but I am going to complete it and hope for the best. Maybe I should ask to meet with the Pet Store managers and talk about the situation. I don't know.

As if I don't have enough things on my platter right now.

Wordpress has a purpose: it wants to eat your soul and give you palpitations. If it weren't for my new friend thanks to Twitter, Darío, I would be crying in a corner by now.

Considering how tired I am, I think I've earned a Chef Boyardee break and a good solid hour of mindless entertainment provided by America's Next Top Model.

I lured her with lettuce and celery and she fell right into my trap! That makes me one very happy hamster mother. I thought the flash was going to scare her but looks like she is quite the natural at posing.

I am ridiculously happy that I caught her with her cheeks stuffed. Makes for such cute pictures!

Camera loves her. A whole lot.

Adventures in the DR Customer Service World

After going to Orange on Saturday to asses my Chuck-is-damaged situation, I was told to return Monday so he could be hospitalized.

Once you become a Blackberry owner, it's practically impossible to picture life without it. I was already suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Couldn't check my e-mail, couldn't stay all day online on GTalk, couldn't write in the memo pad, couldn't obsessively check my Twitter feed...

I headed to the main office expecting the worst. This sentiment was heightened by the fact that a lady couldn't be bothered to hold the door as I was walked behind her and nearly broke my nose in the process. My insta-glare conveyed all the appropriate sentiments, believe you me.

I was given a ticket, guided to the waiting area for my problem and sat down.

That place makes it practically impossible for you to concentrate on what you're reading. They have loudspeakers that say, almost every other second in the most condescending voice ever, "Number X go to booth Y". I am glad that I have mastered the ability to zone out unwanted sounds when I read but still, I needed to be attentive in case they called my number.

My head was spinning by the time my number was called out. The guy asked me what was wrong with my phone after giving me one hell of a one-over. Cue awkward moment from me. I told him that my trackball wasn't working properly and that I needed it fixed ASAP. He asked me if I would cry if it wasn't fixed right away. Cue awkward moment # 2. I decided to go along with it and said that I would be very upset. He told me that since Chuck had a few nicks on the corner the warranty was invalid. I took a deep breath. More money out of my wallet. Just what I needed. Suddenly, he signaled a guy and handed him Chuck.

"Don't worry, we won't charge you."

My jaw dropped. 20 minutes later, my phone had a new trackball and I was bid farewell by the guy who handed me his Messenger address. Awkward moment #3 though I didn't mind. He wasn't my type but no matter. I had to hold myself in check before I did the happy dance in a room filled with people.

So... it just proves my theory that if you're a girl, you can get away with anything in this country.

Chuck is fine! Working like new again. We've finally made up.

I didn't make it to my last photography class. My stomach had some issues with me bright and early. I had to sit this one out. Sad, isn't? Spent the day in bed until I got some strength to wash my hair and take some pictures.

I want some Mexican food.

New hobby. New icon. Some pictures.

Handling a camera is hard. Calculating speed, ISO and God knows what else reminded me why math has always been my enemy.

Oh and whomever is wondering... waking up so early on a weekend is horrible. I still feel like my eyelids have weights on them. An impromptu afternoon nap did not help. Tomorrow is the last day. 9 am once more.

Dear Chuck,

Thank you for throwing a hissy fit and therefore made the trackball useless. It doesn't scroll down no matter what I do. No towel, napkin or puff of air will make it mobile. You know what that means? No late night checking of Twitter. It also means going to Orange (thy father) and wasting what would be left of my afternoon trying to see if you're worth saving.

I am very annoyed. Bad Chuck. >( I can't live without you. You know this very well. I even bought you a pretty little purple cover to protect you after that first drop. I've apologized! Don't tell me you're one of those passive aggressive phones that suddenly explode thanks to the grudges.

What we had is real.

So please...

Can you magically heal yourself? That'd be nice.

I signed up for an intensive photography course this weekend. Spur of the moment really. I've been wanting to take a course since March (wow- the year has gone by so quickly) and because of lack of funds (and enthusiasm), I never signed up. Until yesterday, where I said yes to the photographer who took my sister's wedding pictures. To his wife really.

Truth be told, I am looking forward to it! Borrowed my sister's professional camera and everything.

Always been a very visual gal. Let's hope I can translate it well into pictures.

Though... I hate waking up early on weekends. Goes against my nature. My insomniac nature that is. Class is at 9 am. Just looking at that hour makes me sleepy.

Have I found a cure to my insomnia? :O

Buon giorno October.

I am finally getting around to using the Learn-Italian-By-Thyself software I bought last month. So far the experience has been very fun. Then again I haven't even finished the first lesson. I am looking forward to it though. It's really easy.

I have the tickets for the Jonas Brothers.

VICTORY IS MINE!

Whooot! The entire process of obtaining the tickets was epic to say the least. Let's just say I have an inner negotiator that comes out when pretty boys are at risk. This event has received close to no promotion. It's all been worth of mouth and most of the tickets are sold out.

And for those who are curious, my crazy insomnia is very present. I think I am just staying awake until breakfast. Might as well do something productive now.

Like read or learn more Italian.

-Go to the bank and pay credit card (way overdue~)
-Buy Jonas Brother's tickets (Yes. I'm going and I AM NOT ASHAMED. I've heard some ugly rumors that front row seats are US$1,500.00 ... ARE YOU EFFIN' KIDDING ME SAYMON DIAZ?!)
-Return a defective card scanner my mother bought from Apple. (Whee... not.)
-Catch up on Glee with mom (We're total Gleeks.)
-Clean Buttercup's cage

I could've sworn there were more things for me to do. I guess it just looks all very daunting because most of the stuff is on opposite ends of the city. Lots of driving, lots of wasted gas.

My insomnia has been pretty severe this week. I mean, bedtime for me is 6 am. Brutal, I know. There are a lot of things going on right now that just make me anxious. Real life stuff that makes me want to stay under my covers and write stories forever. At least I have a say of how things should go in my books.
